Critical Nametag Information
On the first day of school, the teacher of your student(s) will give a nametag to your student before they board the school bus for the afternoon route. The nametag will have a yarn lanyard cord so the nametag can be worn around the student’s neck. The information printed on the nametag is CRITICAL information for the school bus driver. Without the nametag, there is a much greater chance that the student will not board the correct bus and therefore be lost. Our experience with very young students is that in the first weeks of school they are quite timid. So if they are unsure of their surroundings or what is happening, they become easily scared. Once they are scared they will be unwilling or unable to answer questions. In some cases they simply cry and will not talk. The nametag we are providing you will ensure that your student(s) board the correct bus and are not lost. If for some reason they do end up on the wrong bus, the nametag will tell us who they are so we can get them safely home or to the designated babysitter. Without the nametag we have a much more difficult time trying to confirm who the student is and where they belong. We are requiring that you student wear this nametag when they board the bus in the morning and again when they board the school bus in the afternoon to go home or to their babysitter.
Please be aware that the school bus policy for the Colby School District is that each child has only two choices for transportation: going home or to one designated babysitter that is on a bus route. Therefore it is possible that your student may have two nametags: one for when they go home and a different one if they go to a babysitter that is on a different bus from the bus route that takes them home. The nametag(s) that we provide for your student(s) will only need to worn for the first few weeks of school as the drivers are getting to know each student. Below is the requested schedule for wearing the nametag:
- Pre- K: Nametag is worn for the first three weeks of school
- Kindergartners: Nametag is worn for the first two weeks of school
- First Graders: Nametag is worn for the first two weeks of school
Once again, the nametag is REQUIRED to be worn each morning and each afternoon that your student(s) ride the school bus. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and critical to the success of the school bus company safely transporting your student(s) to and from school. If you have NOT completed a Transportation Application for your student(s), it is imperative that you contact our office immediately. We will NOT transport any student without a completed Transportation Application.
Please contact us should you have any questions. Our office hours are week days 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that our staff will NOT be available on the Labor Day Weekend (Saturday, Sunday or Monday). Thank you for your cooperation.
