Welcome to my webpage at Colby Middle School and High School!
I am honored to serve the Colby community and our school through several roles within the Colby School District. Since the fall of 2021, I have served as Co-Athletic Director. I’ve been a full-time 8th grade math and social studies teacher here in Colby since the fall of 2011.
In addition to teaching, I serve as the Head Varsity Cross Country Coach—a role I began in 2010—and as Co-Head Track and Field Coach, starting in 2011. From 2015 to 2020, I also served as the district’s Educational Technology Coordinator.
Because of my passion for athletics and my role as Athletic Director, you’ll often see me involved in various sporting events—working the chain gang at football games, sitting at center court cheering on our basketball teams, or supporting many other Colby athletics programs. I also enjoy supporting our music department by attending concerts whenever I can.
Outside of school, I’m an avid runner. When I’m not running, I’m likely on skis somewhere. In the winter, I enjoy heading to Granite Peak in Wausau, and I try to make at least one trip to the Rocky Mountains for a skiing adventure. During the summer, you’ll often find me on the Chippewa River in Eau Claire with great friends, enjoying time on the water.
My wife—Mrs. Graun, who teaches 6th grade—and I love to camp and travel. We spend many miles on the road seeking new adventures, relaxing by the campfire, and gazing at the stars.
I hope this school year is a success for all of us. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help my students grow into responsible adults and excited to see how far my athletes will go on the course and on the track.
